Tips to Choose the Perfect Lawn Mower
Once upon a time all you had to do to find the mower you needed was to walk into the home improvement store and find the mower that had the best deal. Now, it’s not so easy.
There are too many styles of lawn mowers to choose from and finding the best deal might not be the best mower for you. There are a couple of things to consider in getting the best for your yard and your money, no matter what.
The first thing you need to do is consider the size of the yard you have. If you have a small lot, you aren’t going to need a riding mower that has a cutting deck of 60 inches. This is overkill. However, if you have a rather large lot, you aren’t going to want to spend hours and hours pushing a walk-behind mower around. Especially an electric mower that has you dragging a power cord around with you. This can cut out a lot of mowers that won’t fit your needs.
Next, you need to consider what you want to do with the grass clippings after you mow. If you don’t mind the raking and bagging up of the clippings when you’re done, then a normal side or rear discharge mower will work fine. However, if you want to cut your workload down, then you can either get a mower with mulching capabilities or a catcher. You can then either use the mulching blades to fertilize the grass, or you can place the clippings from the catcher into your compost pile for later use.
The final aspect of purchasing a mower is how often you’re going to use it. If you live in a climate that doesn’t have a long summer to do yard work in, or if you just don’t enjoy doing yard work at all and you prefer to train to become a Reiki master, you might prefer to hire a service to take care of your yard instead of spending money to watch your mower sit out in the weather and rust.
If you don’t mind a little extra work and don’t want to pay for a service to come out, finding the right mower to fit your needs will be easy.
